Report Number
4638
Year of Publication
1992
Abstract

The proposed project would construct a new location section for SR 32 beginning at the existing intersection of SR 32 and Mullins Drive in Alma, continuing east on new location and connecting with the existing SR 32 at West 16th Street. The required right-of-way is 80 feet. The total length of the project is 0.85 miles. An archaeological survey consistent with the proposed rights of way was conducted for the entire length of the project corridor. An archaeological survey (Level III) was conducted in accordance with "GDOT/FHWA Cultural Resource Survey Guidelines" developed by the GDOT Staff Archaeologists in consultation with DNR Historic Preservation Section Staff and concurred in by the Federal. Highway Administration and State Historic Preservation Officer. These guidelines provide general survey boundaries and methodological approaches to archaeological surveys based on the type/scope of proposed highway projects and are followed during the initial identification of archaeological resources.
