Abstract

In July 1994, Brockington and Associates, Inc., conducted an archaeological survey of two proposed borrow pits for the Public Works Department of the City of Cartersville, Georgia. Approximately 19 acres were examined through a combination of subsurface testing and ground surface inspection at 30 meter intervals. Two archaeological sites (9BR15 and 9BR19) and five isolated finds of cultural material were identified during this survey. Both sites and all of the isolates are attributable to unknown prehistoric components; no temporally diagnostic artifacts were recovered at these locations. Sites 9BR15 and 9BR19 are recommended ineligible to the National Register of Historic Places. No further work is recommended at either borrow pit location.
