Abstract

During March and April, 1989, Robert S. Webb, Beth Gantt, Sterling Howard and Thomas Pickett conducted an intensive coverage cultural resources survey of approximately 230 hectares (570 acres) in Banks County, Georgia for G. Ben Turnipseed Engineers. The project area is being considered as the site of a raw drinking water reservoir. It is recommended that 12 sites (BRW-1-2, 3, 4, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16 and 17) be tested to determine National Register eligibility status or avoided. Three sites (BRW-1-11, 12 and 13) are not within the project area and will not be impacted by project related activities. These sites will be avoided and no further work recommended unless they will be subject to future impacts related to ancillary lake facilities construction. Cultural clearance is recommended for the remaining sites.
