Abstract

An archaeological survey of a proposed road right-of-way was conducted in a portion of the Oconee National Forest. The known site was delineated and tested. The site dates primarily to the Lamar period with minor components dating to the Middle Archaic and Early Woodland periods. The site is in the Wallace Area Archaeological District listed in the National Register of Historic Places and is significant at the local level. The proposed right-of-way will impact a portion off the site. The recommended mitigation is avoidance.
