A cultural resource survey was performed for the proposed Wahoo Creek relief sewer line in Newnan, Coweta County, Georgia. The project corridor, which is approximately 10,645 feet (3,245 m) long, has a maximum impact corridor width of 50 feet, or 25 feet from the centerline of the existing line, which is followed for approximately half of the corridor length. Much of the project corridor has been impacted by severe disturbance and erosion as a result of an existing pipeline and commercial development. Background research prior to the fieldwork determined that one previously recorded archaeological site is located near the project corridor. No previously recorded historic resources are located near the project corridor. A combined pedestrian survey and subsurface archaeological testing program was applied to the entire length of the project corridor. Standing structures adjacent to the project corridor were evaluated by an architectural historian. This survey identified no archaeological sites or historic resources in the project Area of Potential Effects. Cultural resource clearance to construct is recommended.
