Beaulieu was the name of a large plantation at the mouth of the Vernon River in present-day Chatham County, Georgia (Figures 1 and 2). Preliminary archaeological investigation on a portion of the Beaulieu Plantation site (9CH 1228) was provided by the LAMAR Institute, Savannah, Georgia. This work included Ground Penetrating Radar sampling and shovel test reconnaissance survey. Fieldwork for this project was conducted on September 2, 2006. These results are detailed in this report. The LAMAR Institute's survey team consisted of Daniel T. Elliott and Rita Folse Elliott, assisted by Mr. And Mrs. Robert W. Groves, III.
