Archaeological Survey of the Academy Creek Wastewater Treatment Facility Expansion

Report Number
519
Year of Publication
1981
Abstract

The property behind the existing Academy Creek Wastewater Treatment Facility was surveyed in order to determine the effect of the proposed expansion of that facility on the segment of the Brunswick-Altamaha Canal running through the property and to identify any other sites which may exist on the property. It was found that the proposed expansion will adversely affect the canal; however, for reasons cited in the report, no further mitigation of this portion of the canal is recommended. A small shell midden and a historic dump were found on the property; neither area is judged eligible for nomination to the National Register.
