Abstract

The field activities which have been conducted in the preparation of this report have only scratched the surface of the potential benefits of investigation in Walter F. George Lake. It has become increasingly apparent that a truly comprehensive reassessment of the archaeological resources of the lake is an extremely complex and long-range task. Surface and erosional conditions of the land forms constantly change with the seasons and fluctuations in lake level. New sites and features are constantly being exposed, destroyed, or encapsulated. It is strongly recommended that some mechanism be developed for the continuing reassessment of this area, at least until the lake banks stabilize.
