The project area is located in DeKalb and Rockdale Counties, Georgia in the north central portion of the state. It is approximately 4 kilometers southeast of Lithonia (see Figure 1). The 505 hectare (1250 acre) survey area is the proposed site of a mall and other commercial development. The project area abuts Interstate 20 to the north, a Georgia Power Corporation transmission line to the east and various secondary roads (Klondike Road, Turner Hill Road, Hayden Quarry Road, McDaniels Mill Road) to the west and south. Survey properties are located within the Conyers, Georgia USGS quadrangle.
