Abstract

Site 9FU(DOT)6 represents a low density, surface scatter consisting of unknown period prehistoric lithics. The site is situated in a pasture within the required right of way approximately 60 meters north of White Oak Creek and 15 meters west of State Route 70. The site has been extensively disturbed by past cultivation, erosion, and field road use. The site measures approximately 20 by 10 meters and is restricted to the surface. No subsurface artifacts were recovered from four shovel tests excavated to sterile subsoil. Based on the degree of site disturbance, low artifact frequency and variety, and the low potential for intact subsurface features or deposits, site 9FU(DOT)6 is recommended as not eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places. No further cultural resource management consideration is recommended.
