Abstract

This report deals with the archaeological assessment of proposed construction of an approximately 100 mile four-laned facility from S.R. 306 near Coal Mountain, Georgia to the North Carolina border. The study corridor includes 29 alternate sections, some of the new alignment, some expansion of existing alignment. The various alternates were plotted on the following U.S.G.S. quad sheets: Coal Mountain; Matt Ball Ground East; Ball Ground West; Nelson; Jasper; Dyke; Talking Rock; Webb; Ellijay; Cashes Valley; Blue Ridge; Mineral Bluff; Culberson; Nottely Dam; Mulky Gap; Coosa Bald; Blairsville; and Hiwassee (see attached map section).
