Abstract

During conceptual design, the project was proposed to be constructed at 2:1 slopes which would have required a 200-300 foot wide right-of- way along the mainline and up to 820 feet at the interchanges. As design progressed and soil conditions were analyzed, it was determined that the proposed project would have to be designed using 4:1 slopes. This change in slope will increase the required right-of-way from approximately 325 along the mainline and 820 at the interchanges. Additionally, the raised median has been eliminated in favor of a median barrier typical section.
