Narrative Report on 9-FO-102, A Multicomponent Site in Forsyth County, Georgia, September 5, 1974

Abstract

During the week of September 1st, the Archeological Survey of Cobb-Fulton Counties received a visit from Mr. Christopher Hamilton, student at Florida State University, Tallahassee. Hamilton was seeking information on archeological sites along the Chattahoochee River Corridor between Word Cam and Ga. Hwy. 20. The had had occasion to visit this area. in November, 1970, and again in May, 1971, in response of two government agencies. Several sites had been located in the area. on both sides of the river. On the Forsyth County side, a large village complex had been identified by aerial survey and later confirmed by on-site visits by auto and on foot. During the November, 1970, visit a small collection of Etowah Period pottery and a few fragments of worked stone had been recovered. The site was assigned the catalogue designation 9-Fo-102 and this designation was forwarded to the County Files at the Archeological Laboratory, Dept. of Anthropology, University of Georgia.
