As of 1 January 1976, no known cultural resources were on file in the records of this office for tracts E and J. This, however, does not mean that no cultural resources exist on these properties. The survey that was conducted along North Creek and South River was frequently prohibited from working in some areas due to the density of foilage. Visibility and access were so greatly reduced that some areas have not been surveyed. As numerous resources have been recorded on and around Soapstone Ridge just to the west, the probability of resources along these drainages is very high. For tract F, two archaeological resources are recorded on the north side of South River (see map attached). Additional resources seem very likely for the same reasons stated previously. No resources are recorded for tract K. Stephenson Creek which crosses the property should be surveyed prior to development if this site were selected. Prior to any planning beyond acquisition, the agency responsible for land modification should have the property surveyed intensively for cultural resources. In this manner the resources can be assessed for significance and this data can be incorperated into development plans. The appropriate action can then be taken if development is to adversely impact a resource (s).
