Abstract

The proposed C.D. Milam sand plant operation site is located on the left (south) floodplain (T-O) of the Chattahoochee River in an area just east of Rogers Bridge Road in Gwinnett County near river mile 337 (Figure 1). The main plant area will affect an area approximately 1.4 acres in the very northwest corner of the C.D. Milam property and includes sand separator, sand stockpiles, sediment pond, refuse pile, and silt fence. A natural drainage ditch and haul road will lead away from the site to the south and an alternate overflow discharge and suction line will connect the site to the river. These cross a 150 foot buffer zone which separates the main plant site from the river. The floating pipe/suction line will extend some 1300 feet up river from the plant site where it will connect to a dredge situated on a portable barge.
