Abstract

Ge 150 is a small rock shelter located on top of the peninsula ridge at the junction of the Oconee River and Richland Creek. The ridge, which rises high above the surrounding floodplain, has numerous granite boulders exposed along its summit The rockshelter is formed by the juxtaposition of several of these large boulders. The rockshelter is small, measuring only 5m in length and 3-4m in width. The roof is too low to allow a person of average height to stand" (DePratter 1976:387-388) (See Figure 1). During the survey, one Lamar Plain sherd and some river clam shell were located. Since Gel50 was one of only two known occupied rockshelters located in the reservoir, excavation was recommended.
