Abstract

This survey in April 1983 covered a 95-acre National Forest tract on the Jasper-Jones county line in north-central Georgia, which was proposed for exchange to John Dumas. Long used as farmland, it was covered in pines with several hardwood inclusions. One prehistoric site contained both Early Archaic lithics and probable Woodland ceramics on a low ridge top. Two adjacent historic-period house sites and a probable barn were clustered on another level ridge. All appeared to date from the late 19th-early 20th centuries, and were removed in 193536. Due to the heavy disturbance all three sites have suffered, the sites no longer retain their integrity, and clearance is recommended.
