Abstract

This is a report of a survey for archaeological resources on two sites proposed for game food plots in the Georgia Department of Natural Resources' Swallow Creek Wildlife Management Area , Chattahoochee National Forest, Towns County, Georgia. As some ground surface modification involving clearing of small trees and ground cover so that the plot can be cultivated, the potential for resource intrusion was recognized. Mr. Hubert Handy, Ga . D. N . R. Game Management regional supervisor, requested that the Historic Preservation Section o f Ga . D. N. R. h ave its staff archaeologist survey these sites to meet U.S. Forest Service requirements. On 4 May 1977, staff archaeologist John R. Morgan was shown the locations of the proposed food plots by Ga. D. N . R. employees Mr. Ed Head and. Mr. Johnny Hunt.
