Abstract

This Environmental Assessment (EA) addresses the potential effects, beneficial and adverse, of the proposed implementation of the 2001 Integrated Natural Resource Management Plan (INRMP) for the U.S. Army Signal Center and Fort Gordon, Georgia. The INRMP contains four separate component plans that address the management of the forest, fish and wildlife, grounds and lands, and the outdoor recreation opportunities that occur at Fort Gordon. The primary goals of these plans are to restore the ecosystems at Fort Gordon to historic conditions (pre-settlement) and to improve the habitat for the Federally endangered red-cockaded woodpecker (Picoides borealis [RCW]). This EA was prepared for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Savannah District and Fort Gordon under Contract No. DACW21-98-D-0019, Delivery Order No. 0044 by Gulf South Research Corporation.
