Prior to runway resurfacing of the "Brown" ramp at Lawson Field, Fort Benning Military Reservation, Georgia, a limited cultural resource survey was conducted by Water and Air Research, Inc. (WAR), Gainesville, Florida, adjacent to the existing runway. A brief review of available data on known cultural resources at Lawson Field was supplemented by subsurface testing of an unpaved area adjacent to the runway. The work was conducted in conjunction with an ongoing cultural resource assessment by WAR of the Chattahoochee River Basin, including portions of Lawson Field. Testing of Lawson Field for the river basin project has included two intensive survey blocks and four reconnaissance belt transects.
