Abstract

New South Associates conducted a Phase I archaeological survey of 3.5 miles of proposed improvements to SR 69 in Clay County, North Carolina. The study, conducted April 13-14, 2004, consisted of pedestrian survey designed to discover and record archaeological sites within the project corridor right-of-way. While 20 previously recorded sites are located in the vicinity of the study corridor, no sites were found within the new right-of-way. No further archaeological study of the study corridor is recommended.
