Abstract

The proposed project would upgrade and reconstruct the SR 155/CR 376 intersection to provide left turn lanes and auxiliary right-turn lanes. Existing right-of-way for both SR 155 and C:R 3.76 is 80 feet. Initially, required additional right-of-way varied from 10 to 15 feet, for a total length of 500 feet on each approach. Current revisions call for approximately 95 to 135 feet of right-of-way on SR 155 to the north of CR 376 and approximately 150 feet of right-of-way on the south side of CR 376; additional required right-of-way for CR 376 would be approximately 120 feet west of SR 155 and between 95 to 120 feet east of SR 155. An archaeological survey consistent with the project description was conducted for the entire length of the project corridor. An archaeological survey (Level II) was conducted in accordance with "GDOT/FHWA Cultural Resource Survey Guidelines" developed by the GDOT Staff Archaeologists in consultation with DNR Historic Preservation Division Staff and concurred in by the Federal Highway Administration and State Historic Preservation Officer. These guidelines provide general survey boundaries and methodological approaches to archaeological surveys based on the type/scope of work of proposed highway projects and are followed during the initial identification of archaeological resources. No existing or eligible National Register resources were located within the project's area of potential environmental effect. It is concluded, therefore, that the project will have no effect upon archaeological resources on or eligible for inclusion in the NRHP provided that the project conforms to that described above.
