Abstract

STP-000 l-00(727) would consist of intersection upgrades at various intersections along US 41/SR 3 and SR 136 in Calhoun, Georgia. The signalization improvements are proposed for the intersections of US 41/SR 3 with Piedmont Street, Hicks Street, and the SR 53 Spur. Additional signalization improvements are proposed for the intersections of SR 136 Connector with SR 156/Line Street, SR 53 Spur/River Street, and River Street with Oothcaloga Street. No additional right-of- way will be required. An archaeological survey consistent with the project description was conducted along the entire project corridor. An archaeological survey (Level II) was conducted in accordance with "GDOT/FHWA Cultural Resource Survey Guidelines" developed by the GDOT Staff Archaeologists in consultation with DNR Historic Preservation Division Staff and concurred in by the Federal Highway Administration and State Historic Preservation Officer. These guidelines provide general survey boundaries and methodological approaches to archaeological surveys based on the type/scope of work of proposed highway projects and are followed during the initial identification of archaeological resources.
