Abstract

Brockington and Associates, Inc. has completed background research and field investigations within the newlyproposedright -of-way(ROW) extension east of the intersection of State Road (SR) 96 and Old Hawkinsville Road/Thompson Mill Road in Houston County, Georgia. The proposed project CSNHS-0008-00( 407), PI 0008407 would widen and reconstruct SR 96 from Moody Road to Old Hawkinsville Road/Thompson Mill Road in Bonaire, Houston County, Georgia. The proposed project (PI 0008407) when combined with proposed projects STP00-0155-01{021) and CSNHS-0008-00(406), PI Nos. 322450 and 0008406, would widen and reconstruct SR 96 from I-75 in Peach County to Old Hawkinsville Road/Thompson Mill Road in Houston County. All three projects were included in one environmental document that was approved in April 2010. Since that time, minor design changes have occurred to the eastern terminus of PI 0008407 that have resulted in the project limits being extended approximately 453 feet east of the SR 96 and Old Hawkinsville Road/Thompson Mill Road intersection. Further, to better tie-in with the adjacent project (STP00-0155-01(022), PI 322460), the ROW from just west of the existing SR 96/Thompson Mill Road intersection to the original end point of PI 0008407 has been shifted north a maximum of approximately 25 feet. Overall, the amount of ROW to be acquired under PI 0008407 has increased due to the extension of the project limits. The proposed ROW extension measures approximately 453 feet in length by 100 feet in width. The survey corridor footprint can be seen in Figure 1.
