Abstract

On December 10, 1986 and January 28, 1987 intensive archaeological survey was carried out on three tracts within the Chattahoochee National Forest Greene County, Georgia. Two tracts lie along Copeland Road between Wrayswood Road and Chappel Ear Road and a third tract is located east of the Oconee River and just south of the S.R. 15 river crossing. All three tracts were completely examined by pedestrian survey and subsurface testing was undertaken where appropriate. Fieldwork was preceded by background research including a site files search and examination of relevant historical and archaeological publications and maps. This survey was conducted in compliance with a United States Forest Service Special Use Permit.
