Abstract

The existing right-of-way for SR 120 varies with a maximum of, at least for this part of SR 120, approximately 120 feet wide close to the existing bridge. The project begins at MP 4.36 and end at MP 4.66. The proposed right-of-way will be added to the southeast side of the road only and it varies with a maximum of 150 additional feet also at the bridge. This project did incorporate the 100 feet Expanded Survey Corridor (ESC). The southwest quadrant is a steep drop-off into the creek. There is no landform to shovel test. The northwest quadrant begins as a steep incline with rock at the surface. Going east the landform drops and evens out, apparently from the construction of SR 120, and the shovel tests reveal a thin lens of soil over rock and fill. The southeast quadrant is a steep rocky incline that bottoms out once it gets close to Beach Creek. This area also has a dirt road that parallels the creek seemingly constructed for electrical work. The northeast quadrant is floodplain that bottoms out into a wetland with standing water. It was in this quadrant that an isolated find was recovered.
