Abstract

The proposed project would consist of the installation of sidewalks and bike lanes on Delesseps and La Roche Avenues from Waters Avenue to Skidaway Road in the City of Savannah, a distance of approximately 1.3 miles. The existing facility consists of two traffic lanes which vary in width from 10 to 12 feet with an existing right-of-way ranging from 50 to 200 feet. The majority of the corridor has no curb and gutter or sidewalks. The proposed facility would consist of two 11-foot traffic lanes with 30 inch curb and gutter and 5-foot sidewalks adjacent to the back of the curb on both sides of the road. The proposed sidewalks would tie to the existing raised concrete shoulders on the Truman Parkway overpass. No work is proposed on the overpass. In addition, 4-foot bike lanes would be constructed on both sides of the road from Skidaway Road to the east side of the Truman Parkway overpass where they will tie into the Truman Linear Park Trail (PI # 0007631). It is anticipated that right-of-way and/or construction easements would be required along portions of the project corridor ranging from 5 to 10 feet.
