Abstract

On March 31, 1979, an archeological survey was conducted by Linda F. Carnes and Roy S. Dickens, Jr., on the proposed site of a landfill owned by Browning-Ferris Industries.

The surveyed area is located in the southwestern portion of DeKalb County. The property is bounded on the south by Interstate 285, on the east by Moreland Avenue (Georgia Highway 23), on the north by the South River, and on the west by the Fulton County Line. The property includes portions of Land Lots l7, 48, and 49. Excluded from the survey were several areas of residential development, extensive borrow pits, and interstate highway construction disturbances. The total area surveyed was 114 acres (Figure 1).
