Abstract

On July 17 and 18, 2013, Southern Research Historic Preservation Consultants, Inc., conducted an intensive cultural resources survey for the proposed Creekview Commons Subdivision in Americus, Sumter County, Georgia. The 23 acre tract is located in west Americus, near the intersection of South Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Magnolia Street. The survey recorded two Native American archaeological sites 9Su248 and 9Su251 both of which are low density lithic scatters. These two sites are recommended not eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. No historic structures were recorded in or adjacent to the Area of Potential Effect (APE), although both sites were used as a dump for construction materials in the recent past.
