Abstract

Environmental Corporation of America (ECA) has completed an Archaeological Assessment for the federal undertaking at the subject site. The subject site is a proposed telecommunications facility located at 1721 Washington Road, Crawfordville, Taliaferro County, Georgia. The facility would consist of a proposed 100-foot by 100-foot (30-meter by 30-meter) fenced compound surrounding a 310-foot overall height guyed-type telecommunications structure, three proposed approximate 190-foot long by 20-foot (58-meter by 6-meter) wide guy-wire easements, and associated ground-level support equipment. The proposed facility would be accessible by an approximate 1,040-foot long by 35-foot (317-meter by 11-meter) wide access/utility easement. This archaeological assessment was conducted in order to ascertain whether the proposed undertaking, on the project site, might directly or indirectly affect cultural resoruces, if any such resources exist. Through our review of available cultural records and databases, no previously recorded archaeological sites and or surveys were identified within or near the area for direct effects. Furthermore, during the course of the field survey portion of this archaeological assessment, no archaeological cultural resources were encountered. ECA believes that the proposed undertaking would have no effect on any historic or prehistoric archaeological resources that are listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. Based on our findings related to archaeological resources, we recommend no further consultation under Section 106 Review of the National Historic Preservation Act for this proposed undertaking.
