Abstract

Environmental Corporation of America (ECA) has completed an Archaeological Assessment for the federal undertaking at the subject site. The subject site includes a proposed approximate 60-foot by 60-foot (18-meter by 18-meter) telecommunications facility and an approximate 190-foot long by 30-foot wide (58-meter by 9-meter) access/utility easement. The proposed telecommunications facility would include a 155-foot (overall height) tall monopine telecommunications structure and associated ground level support equipment. The subject site is located at 5020 W. Chapel Hill Road, Douglasville, Douglas County, Georgia.

This archaeological assessment was conducted in order to ascertain whether the proposed undertaking might directly or indirectly affect cultural resources, if any such resources exist. During our database research, we found one previously identified archaeological site (9DO103) and two surveys (1910 and 2138) within our standard 1-mile background research radius. However, no sites or surveys were located within the APE for direct effects. During the course of the field survey portion of this archaeological assessment no archaeological sites were identified.

ECA believes that the proposed undertaking would have no effect on any historic or prehistoric archaeological resources that are listed in or eligible for listing in the National Register of Historic Places. Based on our findings related to archaeological resources, we recommend no further consultation under Section 106 Review of the National Historic Preservation Act for this proposed undertaking.
