Abstract

The proposed project would consist of improvements to the Interstate (I-) 95 at State Route (SR) 21 interchange located approximately 3.5 miles northeast of the city of Port Wentworth in Chatham County, Georgia. The project would reconfigure the existing I-95 at SR 21 interchange to a diverging diamond interchange.

The current interchange at I-95 and SR 21 is a typical diamond pattern characterized by opposing on and off ramps for SR 21 on either side of I-95. The proposed project would retain the existing bridge, modify lane configurations and storage lengths on all SR 21 and ramp approaches, and upgrade the signalized intersections to accommodate the interchange reconfiguration. The project would also add a northbound left lane to SR 21 until it reaches its intersection with SR 30. All impacts proposed as a result of this project will occur within the boundaries of the existing ROW, which is depicted as the APE. No easements, temporary or permanent, are required for this project.
