Abstract

The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) proposes to upgrade roadway intersection signals at nine highway intersections in Cherokee County, Georgia. These intersections include seven locations along State Route (SR) 92 near Woodstock, Georgia, one location on SR 140 near Canton, Georgia, and one location on Ball Ground Highway near Ball Ground, Georgia. These improvements will address compliance with both the current GDOT standards and the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), and the requirements of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA). This proposed project will improve efficiency for vehicular and pedestrian traffic through the upgrading of traffic signal equipment, adding energy saving light-emitting diode (LED) signal heads, pedestrian platforms, wheelchair ramps, pedestrian signals, and crosswalk striping. The proposed project will upgrade equipment, accommodate pedestrians, and update pedestrian facilities to meet current ADA standards at nine roadway intersections.
