Abstract

Cultural resources surveys were conducted on three tracts of National Forest land prior to proposed land exchanges in Habersham and White Counties, Georgia. Parcel One, in Land Lot 55, Dist 11 of Habersham County, had 69 acres, and one small lithic scatter, badly disturbed by erosion. Parcel Two, in Land Lots 123 and part of 122, District 13, in Habersham, was 227 acres of mostly steep ground, and had no sites. Parcel Three, in Land Lots 63 and 64, District 13, Section 1, of White County, was located on Allison ridge above Duke's Creek, and was also mostly steep land. It had a 30' long terrace or retaining wall in a small cove, but no other evidence of occupation. Total land surveyed was 591 acres. Since there were no significant sites found on these three tracts, cultural resources clearance is recommended for these land exchanges.
