Abstract

The project will include the removal of the existing old, broken, ageing, and non-ADA compliant sidewalks and construct 6,400 SF of 5 ft wide brick paver sidewalks with ADA compliant ramps on Georgia SR 40/West King Street.  The proposed construction will also include a 7.5 feet wide green space area between the existing curb and gutter and the new sidewalks.  Single trunk crape myrtles will be planted within the greenspace area.  The proposed trees will be of an appropriate type and size as to be compliant with Georgia Department of Transportation landscaping standards and will be planted 4.25 feet from the face of the curb.  The project will not include irrigation.

The project will also include the installation of 10,000 SF of 5 feet wide concrete sidewalks and ADA compliant ramps along North/South West Street, North/South Arizona Street and South Orange Edwards Boulevard.

As an additional element of the project, new directional signage will be installed at each intersection point and wayfinding signage along Georgia SR 40/West King Street.  This new directional sand wayfinding signage will be in compliance with Georgia Department of Transportation signage requirements.  As a final element, the project will include the installation of decorative pedestrian lights to coincide with the existing streetscape in downtown Kingsland.  Posted speed limit within the project area is 35 MPH.
