Abstract

The proposed undertaking is defined as the 121.2 acre [49.1-hectare (ha)] Eden wood residential development site in northeast Paulding County, Georgia which is in the northwest part of the state. The project area is bounded on the south and east by Pumpkin vine Creek, on the north by the Harmony Grove Church Road, and on the west side by private property. The study area is located on the 7.5 minute series Burnt Hickory Ridge U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) quadrangle (Figure 1).

Sites 9PA8 and 9PA353 were first recorded on site forms in 1974 and early 2005 respectively. Each site was revisited and delineated during a 2005 Phase I cultural resources survey of the Edenwood tract, subsequently tested (Avery et al. 2005), and determined eligible for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), in consultation with the Georgia State Historic Preservation Division (HPD). Figure 1 shows the locations of these two sites.
