Abstract

Site 9CW120 was identified during a 1981 and 1998 surveys of the Lake McIntosh Reservoir site in Fayette and Coweta Counties, Georgia (Webb et al. 1981; Keith and Webb 1998). The site was tested during the 1998 study and subsequently determined eligible for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) in consultation with the Georgia State Historic Preservation Office (SHPO). Figure 1 shows the site location. The construction of the Lake McIntosh Reservoir will disturb and adversely effect Site 9CK1073. According to the project Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), the adverse effects to Site 9CK1073 must be mitigated through archeological data recovery.
