Abstract

During the month of September 2002, New South Associates conducted a Phase I cultural resources survey of the proposed 210 acre Temco Tract in northeast Paulding County, Georgia. Two archaeological sites (9Pa159 and 9Pa160) were located during this investigation. These sites were located on upland landforms overlooking the confluence of Little Pumpkinvine Creek and an unnamed tributary. Site 9Pa159 consists of a late Middle to Late Woodland lithic scatter indicating a short-term hunting/butchering site. Site 9Pa160 contains an unidentified prehistoric lithic scatter and a mid 19th to early 20th century scatter of domestic refuse. Due to a lack of sufficient integrity and research potential, both sites are recommended ineligible for nomination to the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).
