Abstract

The proposed project consists of construction of a 230 kV overhead transmission line supported by a series of concrete or steel monopoles. The project corridor is approximately 3.2 km (two miles) long by between approximately 9 m (30 ft) and 30 m (100 ft) wide. The archaeological Area of Potential Effects (APE) for this project is defined as the dimensions of the project corridor. The corridor begins at a point at the southern end of Export Boulevard, extending northward along Commerce Boulevard within a heavily industrialized area, then eastward along Commerce Court and continuing across the CSX railroad line and Highway 21 to a point 250 m north of Crossgate Boulevard, thence northeastward approximately 300 m along an unpaved road, thence northward approximately 300 meters (see Figures 1 and 2). The project corridor is bound at various locations by Export Boulevard, Commerce Boulevard, Commerce Court, CSX Railroad, Georgia Highway 21, and private property.
