Abstract

STP-002-4(2) proposes to construct four passing lanes and a turn lane on State Route 44 from the city of Eatonton in Putnam County southerly to the Jones County line. Passing lane #1 will provide a southbound passing lane between mil markers 0.05 and 1.10 for a total of 1.05 miles. Passing lane #2 will provide a northbound passing lane between mile markers 1.10 and 2.17 for a total of 1.07 miles. Passing lane #3 will provide a southbound passing lane between mile markers 2.81 and 4.41 for a total of 1.61 miles. Passing lane #4 will provide a northbound sing lane between mile markers 4.41 and 5.60 for a total of 1.19 miles. The existing roadway along State Route consists of two, 12-ft. travel lanes with rural shoulders. The proposed construction will provide three, 12-ft. lanes with 10-ft. shoulders. The project also includes reconstructing the existing substandard vertical alignment to meet current design standards. The existing culverts will be extended to accommodate the proposed widening. Existing right-of-way along State Route 44 varies between 50 and 200-ft. Proposed right-of-way varies tween 120 and 200-ft. Total project length is approximately 4.84 miles.
