Abstract

The proposed project would widen and reconstruct SR4/US 1 from two lanes to four lanes with a 44 foot depressed grass median. The proposed project would begin approximately .5 mile south of the Waycross Bypass and would end at the Ware/Bacon County line. The original required right-of-way for the proposed project varied from 200 to 250 feet. The required right-of-way has been increased to a maximum of 265 feet in some areas, the project length has been increased to 9.8 miles from the original 9.3 miles, and sediment basins have been added throughout the project corridor. An archaeological survey consistent with the proposed changes was conducted for the entire length of the project corridor.
