Abstract

The proposed project would be to provide streetscape improvements in the City of Dallas to streets adjacent to the Downtown Plaza and previously Improved streets. The scope of work includes infrastructure and pedestrian improvements to portions of the following streets: Johnson Street, West Spring Street, East Spring Street. East Griffin Street and Park Street Concrete curb and gutter will be added to all streets. Sidewalks will be 5' to 6' wide with landscape areas that vary from 'Z -0" to B'-0". Crosswalks will be added at major intersections that are stop sign controlled. Proposed improvements include the addition of street furniture, such as benches, trash receptacles, and bike racks, landscaping including trees, shrubs, and groundcover, new sidewalk surfacing such as brick pavers and poured concrete, pedestrian .and vehicular scale lighting, new light poles will have a breakaway design There are seven gateway locations identified in the project area. All landscaping will conform to GDOT guidelines and is located behind the sidewalk. The improvements are proposed on existing City of Dallas property and private property. Permanent and temporary easements will be required for construction purposes and right-of-way (ROW) acquisition for work on private property.
