Since the time of the previously approved Addendum to the Phase I Archaeological Survey of the South River Trail Phase 5, DeKalb County, Georgia, the design of the trail has been further developed and several changes have occurred along the alignment. The changes are depicted on the Figures 2A-C and are detailed by section below:
• Area 1 - the trail has been shifted north in this area to avoid the stream buffer of the South River;
• Areas 2 and 3 - the trail has been shifted south in this area to avoid impacts to an identified wetland and to take advantage of a clear-cut area;
• Area 4 - the trail has been shifted south at this location to avoid low areas prone to flooding and to provide a perpendicular crossing of a stream;
• Areas 5 and 6 - the trail has been shifted at these locations due to the topography of the area; and
• Areas 7 and 8 - the trail has been shifted south at these locations due to topography and to avoid sewer easements.
The proposed project would require approximately 28.5 acres of ROW and approximately 3.0 acres of easement. The total project length would remain approximately 2.1 miles.
