The proposed project would take place on Interstate 285 (I-285) on the bridge crossing over DelMar Lane (CS 2766) in west Atlanta. The existing typical section of I-285 consists of eight 12-foot travel lanes, four in each direction. The bridge itself is 116 feet long with a deck width of 156.50 feet and a roadway width of 150 feet. A metal guardrail separates northbound and southbound traffic for the entire length of the bridge. The existing right-of-way (ROW) varies between 165 feet to the east and 275 feet to the west along the centerline of the roadway. The project proposes replacing the existing metal guardrail with a concrete median barrier. All work will occur within the existing ROW. Traffic disruptions will be low intensity and short in duration with no off site detours required.
