Abstract

The purpose of this project is general bridge maintenance and the correction of severe erosion issues at the State Route (SR) 136 bridge over Talking Rock Creek (Structure ID 213-0023-0) in Murray County, Georgia. The original project description comprised of the installation of rip-rap along the eastern abutment of the SR 136 bridge to prevent further erosion, as well as non-ground-disturbing bridge maintenance activities including epoxy injections of the cracks at Bent Caps 2-5, polymer overlay of the deck, and joint replacement. The eastern abutment was surveyed in July 2015 (Perrine 2015), but the scope of the project has been extended since that time to include the installation of rip-rap along the western abutment of the bridge, as well as the following bridge maintenance activities: bridge jacking and the resettling of bearings at Bent 5, replacing existing edge beams at Bents 1 and 5, painting bearings, restriping the bridge, replacing pavement markers, and cutting the vegetation back 10 feet from the sides of the bridge using hand tools to remove branches and other obstructions from around the bridge. This addendum addresses the additional survey work conducted at the rip-rap installation location along the western abutment of the SR 136 bridge. Existing right of way (ROW) for the project varies and is a minimum of 50 feet on either side of the bridge.
