Abstract

The project would encompass the intersection of Klondike Road and S. Goddard Road in the southeast corner of DeKalb County, Georgia. The project limits on Klondike Road would begin approximately 1,610 feet (0.30 mile) south and end approximately 430 (0.08 mile) north of its intersection with S. Goddard Road. On S. Goddard Road, the project limits would begin approximately 480 feet (0.09 mile) west and end approximately 575 feet (0.11 mile) east of its intersection with Klondike Road. Refer to Figure 1 for a project location map.

The proposed improvements would include the placement of 5-foot sidewalk on the west side of Klondike Road south of S. Goddard Road as well as on the south side of S. Goddard Road west of Klondike Road to accommodate the Murphy Candler Elementary School property. In addition to the sidewalk, both Klondike Road and S. Goddard Road would be widened for the placement of left turn lanes in all directions. Klondike Road would be widened approximately 10 feet while S. Goddard Road would be widened approximately 8 to 13 feet. A flashing signal would be placed at the intersection. Drainage at the intersection is also to be improved due to the placement of curb and gutter.

Right-of-way would be necessary at the miters of the intersection on the northeast, northwest and southeast sides.
