Abstract

Site 9DU(DOT)23 was located on April 8-9, 2009 during an archaeological survey for Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) projects STP-0002-00( 409) and NH-006-2(56) in Dougherty County. The proposed projects would widen and reconstruct Clark Avenue/SR 300 in the city of Albany. Site 9DU(DOT)23 was identified while surveying the area of potential effect (APE) for project NH-006-2(56). A portion of site 9DU(DOT)23 was located within project NH-006-2(56). 9DU(DOT)23, within the project APE, is a multicomponent historic and prehistoric site within a highly disturbed context. The site's eligibility is determined to be unknown, due to lack of definitive site boundaries outside of the project APE, with the portion inside of the project's APE as noncontributing.
