Abstract

On October 15 through October 18, 2007 Southeastern Archeological Services, Inc. archeologically surveyed a 500-m (.3-mi) length of proposed transmission line corridor and 650 m (0.4 mi) of proposed access road on the north side of State Route 53 about 3 km (1.8 mi) west of Dawsonville. This survey covered a change in the alignment of the route of the proposed transmission line that was surveyed in December of 2006 (see Gresham 2007a). The present survey of the revised route and associated access roads resulted in the recording of four sites. We recommend that none of these four sites are eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places because all fail to meet criterion d, the ability to support further meaningful research. Therefore, in regard to archeological sites, we recommend clearance for this revised section of transmission line corridor and the associated access roads. In conjunction with the original survey and the two previous surveys of amended routings (Addendum I and Addendum II), we recommend clearance for the entire Dawson Crossing to Juno transmission line project to proceed.
