Abstract

This project involves the replacement Bridge 195-5043-0 that carries Old Wildcat Bridge Road over Masons Mill Creek, located approximately 6.5 miles northeast of Danielsville (Attachment 1). The existing bridge, built in 1966, is no longer structurally sufficient and needs to be replaced. The project is part of the GDOT Low Impact Bridge Program (LIBP). The existing right-of-way (ROW) is 12 meters (40 ft.) from the centerline. The bridge measures 46.3 meters (151.9 ft.) in length. No temporary roadways or bridges are proposed for the project.

From the LIBP Manual: "The 100-foot expanded archaeology survey corridor on typical GDOT projects will be waived in some instances, given that projects in the Program are not intended to extend beyond existing ROW. This consideration will be determined based on available design information and consultation with Office of Bridges and Structures. Field data will be assessed to ensure that the entire survey area has been surveyed. For the purpose of the field survey, generally 300 feet from existing structure approaches will serve as the longitudinal survey limits."
