Abstract

Existing traffic patterns on the Dixie Highway/US 41 /State Route (SR) 3 is a continuous flow movement at its intersection with County Road (CR) 381/Graysville Road, while approaching traffic on CR 381/Graysville Road is controlled with a stop bar and stop sign. The proposed project would improve the existing intersection through the installation of a single lane roundabout. The existing typical section for Dixie Highway/US 41/SR 3 consists of two 12ft. travel lanes, one in each direction, with 3ft. to 10ft. paved shoulders on approximately 80 feet of right-of-way. The existing typical section along CR 381 /Graysville Road consists of two 12ft. travel lanes, one in each direction, with 2ft. paved shoulders on approximately 50 feet of right-of-way. The proposed typical section would consist of two 12 ft. lanes with curb and gutter, and a single 12-foot lane roundabout. The proposed required right-of-way would total 0.488 acre, while the proposed project would also require 0.410 acre of permanent easement and 0.278 acre of temporary driveway easement. The project on the Dixie Highway/US 41 /SR 3 would begin at approximately MP 10.77 and end at approximately MP 1 0.98, for a total project length of approximately 0.21 mile. The proposed project runs along CR 381 /Graysville Road from MP 0.0 to MP 0.1 0, for a total length of 0.10 mile. Please refer to Figure 1 for the project location map.
